  • What does poly-in mean on film?
    It means the adhesive is rolled toward the inside of the roll. (more commonly used)
  • What is coverlam film?
    A premium grade, low melt, aggresive adhesive film used for specialty items.
  • Why do you decrease the heat on a roll laminator the thicker the film gets?
    Because of the higher glue factor.
  • What temperature should you run laminating films at?
    Depending on the model of your machine: 1.5 mil is 290-315 degrees / 3 mil Doculam is 275-300 degrees / 3 mil Coverlam is 220-270 degrees / 5 mil is 240-275 degrees / 10 mil is 220-260 degrees and 1.7 or 1.8 mil is 220-270 degrees
  • What do the mil weights mean?
    The mils equal the parts of adhesive (polyethylene) vs. the mylar film (polyester)
  • What is the maximum film roll thickness for a Premier 4 Roll Laminator?
    1/8 inch
  • What is the maximum film capacity on a Premier 4 Roll Laminator?
    1.5 mil is 1000" rolls and 3 mil is 500' rolls.
  • What temperature should you run your pouches at?
    Depending on the model of your machine: 3 mil is 275 degrees / 5 mil is 285 degrees / 7 mil is 300 degrees / 10 mil is 340 degrees
  • How many pouches can be run through a pouch laminator per hour?
    On a 4" PL, 350 small cards per hour
    On a 12" PL, 600-900 small cards per hour and 3 large pouches per minute.
  • When to adjust the heat on a pouch laminator?
    If the pouch is cloudy, the temperature is too low.
    If the pouch is wrinkled or has bubbles, the temperature is too high.
  • What do you use to clean the rubber rollers on a pouch laminator?
    Use a mildly abrasive cleaning pad, such as a 3M WHITE Scotch Brite, and denatured alcohol OR mild soapy water to wipe the rollers.

  • What does the pitch mean in coil or wire bindings? (2:1, 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1)
    Pitch refers to the number of holes per inch.
  • Can you use 4:1 and 5:1 coils on the same machine?
    No, they are not interchangeable, need different punch dies.
  • What is the difference between the C800 and the CombMac 24E, both are an Electric Punch/Manual Binder?
    The CombMac 24E is 14" with 24 punch dies, has a Jam-Release Switch and a diameter scale.
